WotLD: Survival strategy zombie game
World of the Living Dead is a massively-multiplayer zombie game which features strategy gameplay and life or death resource management in a huge game universe.
How can I play?
WotLD is a game you play in your internet browser. No downloads or plug-ins are needed. You need to use a modern browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Users of Internet Explorer are recommended to install the Google Chrome frame for the best experience.
What's the story?
The world has been overrun by the living dead. The national Emergency Control & Relief Agency (NECRA) was established to take over management of the most important global issue: survival at all costs.
What do I do?
You play the role of a NECRA operative who has been sealed into a secure bunker and given the task of remotely guiding survivors to supplies and shelter.
How do I do that?
You use a modified Google Maps interface to plan routes to locations where your survivors can scavenge for food, liquids, weapons or other useful supplies.
What happens then?
Your survivors can permanently die if they don't get enough food and liquids! Keep them supplied and then you can start taking on more tasks, such as building a safehouse, completing SCUGS missions or joining a faction.
What is SCUGS?
SCUGS stands for Survival Cell User Guidance System. It's an automated emergency navigation and communications system established by NECRA to allow you to manage your survivors. SCUGS will assign you survivors and missions.
What can my survivors do?
All characters start out as ordinary citizens with no skills suitable for an apocalyptic situation. As they scavenge or kill zombies you will gain Survival Points. These can be invested in developing character skills in combat, scavenging or survival.
Can I attack other players?
You can attack squads belonged to other players, kill their characters, steal their equipment and even raid undefended safehouses. NECRA has authorized any actions needed to ensure the survival of your group.
Can I join or start a faction? You can get involved in a faction after level 5. How you run your group or faction is up to you. You may choose to extend your territory to include a number of safehouses or even clear an area of zombies. Or you might prefer to roam and raid other players for resources. You can even negotiate with other factions to trade resources or define territories.
What's your plan?
Scavenge for food and weapons. Risk staying in the city where the pickings are rich but the competition is fierce. Attack other players for supplies or form factions to rid your area of the zombie menace. Choose how you want to deal with the apocalypse and develop your characters as they learn how to survive.
